Selangor have emerged as the 2009 MSSM Champions. After 7 rounds of play, Selangor emerged as the overall Champions winning 4 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals . The Selangor team amassed a total of 112 points, 5 ahead of its closest rivals Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur on the other hand did very well in the medal tally winning 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze medal. Held at the Goldcourse Hotel Resort in Klang, the MSSM is the biggest annual Chess event in the country with almost 500 students from all around country fighting for top honours in their respective age categories. This year, Perak and Kelantan gave a account of themselves by emerging 4th and 6th respectively.
