The Stella Maris School Medan Damansara and Cheras Chess Academy raised RM10,000
for Yayasan Chow Kit by
organising the Stella
Maris Yayasan Chow Kit Charity Chess Match, on Sunday the 29
September 2019.
The
chess match was officiated and launched by the right Honourable YB Tuan Gobind
Singh Deo, Malaysia's Minister of Communications and Multimedia.
The
minister applauded the effort of the organisers and the chess community for
coming together and raising much needed funds for the less fortunate. He also
hoped that more people will follow this good example and help alleviate the
problems of the less privileged especially the children.
At
the fundraiser, chess master Collin Madhavan and eight junior chess champions
played a Simultaneous Chess match against 88 participants at the premises of
Stella Maris School Medan Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. The participants consisted of
students from the school and members of the public.
The
match lasted over four hours.
